I came into Reiki as skeptic, being a scientist who had been taught for decades to disbelieve what I couldn't measure.
On the night of my Reiki I attunement I was walking around bare-footed when I 'accidentally' kicked a chair, nearly tearing off my left big toe-nail. I immediately decided to test Reiki by sitting down and placing my hands around my foot, a somewhat uncomfortable position. I was quite surprised to feel an immediate burning sensation, almost as if my foot was on fire! I kept at it it, however, for another 15 minutes or so until the heat died down, and then released my hands. I was amazed to see that the nail had re-attached - the only sign of the accident being a faint line down and across the nail where the tear had been. I tugged, pushed and prodded but it was solid!
I'd been told during the class that the biggest skeptics are often subjected to experiences to confirm that Reiki really does exist - this was obviously my wake-up call! As Terry Pratchett said in the Discworld series of novels, "It's hard to be an atheist when a god comes up and bashes your door in"!

I've just recently done a course in reiki 2. I've been reiki 1 since 2000.
During a woman's retreat, I was offering people reiki and something amazing happened.
I'd placed my hands on and had been feeling the energy quite strongly. I moved my hands away from the body and focused on the auric field. Around this time, a fly began to buzz around this person and then flew in between my hand and this person's neck/shoulder area. It went ballistic and dropped to the table. It swirled around for a good 1-2 minutes before shooting off again - dare I say, never to be the same.
As I mentioned above, I've just been attuned to reiki 2 and during the preparation meditation (Mayan Reiki) one of the cats that this teacher has, come up to me and started to nudge at my back. It then stood up and stretched itself up on two legs and crocked it's head around my neck. My teacher noticed this and was quite sure it was giving me a sign as to where my spiritual guidance will come from as I use this healing method in the future. Just in the last couple of days since my attunement, I've began to notice a lot more energies around. I really love the practice of reiki and I attend reiki and spiritual awareness meet-ups regularly.
